PRIVATE LESSONS

"He's a great dog, but...."

We know that even the best dogs can have problems. No matter if your dog is young or old, new to you or a long-time family companion, we can help!

From common training challenges such as housetraining and basic manners to serious behavior problems including aggression, on-leash reactivity, separation anxiety and fear and phobias, our extensive experience provides you with smart, practical strategies and training plans to reach your goals.

All lessons are scheduled with 4Paws University Owner/Trainer, Lisa Mullinax.

Initial Consultation $225.00

Our initial consultation includes a 45-minute phone consultation and a 1.5 hour private lesson at the 4Paws University Training & Behavior Center. Depending on the type and scope of the problem, additional lessons may be necessary.

Additional lessons $150.00

Our convenient online scheduling system makes it easy to take the first step towards a better behaved dog! Click the button above and select "Initial Consultation" to choose the date/time for the phone appointment portion of the Initial Consultation.

Important Information

Our most successful clients are those who take a proactive and positive approach to the training process. There are no instant solutions for problem behaviors. Change takes time and practice, which will be rewarded with a happier, well-behaved companion!

All lessons are held at the 4Paws University training center unless previous arrangements have been made. Services are limited to residents of the Greater Sacramento area.

We do not use aversive equipment or methods, as the latest research of dog behavior, as well as ten years of experience, has shown that such methods are not more effective than reward-based methods and frequently create or exacerbate problems in the long run.

  • No shock collars
  • No prong collars
  • No physical punishment

We do not employ or advocate the methods seen on 'The Dog Whisperer.' Our training and behavior programs are designed to change problem behaviors through reward-based methods, not temporarily suppress them through the use of punishment. Dog owners will be required to discontinue the use of such methods during the training program.

Euthanasia/Rehoming Policy: We strongly believe this is a personal choice to be made by owners after considering all factors. Our role in this regard is to provide the owner with a clear view of those factors and offer consultation, as appropriate.
