Lisa has developed a unique ability to read dogs' subtle body language, and teaches owners of shy, fearful and reactive dogs how to predict problems before they occur.  Lisa knows first-hand how difficult life can be for owners of difficult dogs and is committed to help them safely and humanely manage and change their dog's behavior.

Lisa contributes to the Roseville Dog Owners' Group newsletter with training tips and articles.  She created the Dog Safety Activity Book for children, which teaches dog safety and bite prevention.   Lisa is also the editor and contributing author of The Paw Print, 4Paws University's newsletter, which was distributed via email as a free service (currently on hiatus).  Lisa also designed and currently maintains the 4Paws website.

When she's not working with dog owners and their dogs, Lisa can be found photographing her favorite subject.  Many of the photographs on this website were taken by Lisa. She also volunteers with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California, and lends a hand whenever possible, usually as a Border Collie taxi service!

PARKER MALONE

Parker is a 3 year-old Border Collie who was adopted from Tri-Valley Animal Rescue. Parker works with Lisa to demonstrate the exercises (and provide comic relief) in class and helps out during in-home training sessions.

Parker has earned his Herding Instinct Certificate (HIC) and his Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification. Parker and Lisa compete in Disc Dog competitions and Parker's middle name, Malone, is in honor of an old friend and great frisbee dog.

DUGAN 2003-2004

Dugan was a very special Great Dane/Coonhound mix that was adopted by Lisa when he was 6 months old. Dugan had never been socialized to more than a handful of people and had only lived with other dogs. For the first 2 months that he was with Lisa, he would not leave his crate or take food from her hand. With patience and positive methods, Dugan slowly began to trust Lisa more and even attended some group classes.

Sadly, Dugan died at the age of 15 months after a short but brave battle with cancer.

MAC 1993-2003

Lisa didn't know much about dogs 15 years ago when she saw a box of free puppies outside of the grocery store. The puppies were only 5 weeks old and the mother was not present.

Over the years, Mac developed into a wonderful family pet. Smart, affectionate and a bit of clown. As he grew older, however, he started showing some disturbing signs of aggression towards strangers and other dogs.

It wasn't until Mac was 7 years-old that Lisa started working with a trainer who used positive reinforcement methods and Mac's behavior changed for the better. Through those methods, Lisa and Mac made huge strides, even working in group classes for the next 3 years until age-related problems forced her to say goodbye.
