CLASS DETAILS
Cost: $225.00 per dog
Class Length: 6 lessons
Prerequisite: 4Paws University graduates who have achieved proficiency outlined below.

The Intermediate Obedience class is for students and dogs who have progressed to proficiency with Basic Obedience exercises (see Prerequisites, below).

Building on that foundation, we build reliability around increased distance and distraction with challenging drills and exercises. Focus is placed on precision and control in increasingly difficult situations, and includes an off-site field trip for real-world practice.

*PREREQUISITE:

Owner and dog must be able to perform the following around reasonable distractions prior to starting class:

Owner must have a basic understanding of the principles of how to mark behavior with the use of a verbal marker or clicker and be able to get dog's response without the use of a leash or corrective collar.

  • Dog is reasonably attentive and responsive to owner around common distractions (multiple dogs, people, etc.)
  • Sit and Down without reliance on training equipment (food, choke chain, etc.) or force
  • 'Leave It'
  • Stay/Wait for 30 seconds
  • Heel while focused on owner for up to 20'
  • Recall from 20' feet away

Dog/owner teams that have not yet achieved this level of proficiency can repeate Basic Obedience for additional practice or schedule a private lesson to troubleshoot problems.

To register, please Contact Us.

NOTE : This class is not appropriate for dogs who exhibit aggressive behaviors towards other dogs or people or bark excessively.
