April Kato is one of the owners of 4Paws University and our puppy expert.  Entering into dog training in 2001, April apprenticed under trainer Angie Neal for five years.  Angie then passed the puppy torch to April before moving out of state.

April has since revitalized the Puppy Kindergarten program, bringing more focus to socialization and fun games that teach puppies the skills they need to grow into well-behaved dogs.

April continues her own education in puppy training and behavior through study and seminars by top trainers and behaviorists, such as Ian Dunbar, Patricia McConnell and Jean Donaldson. She is a full member of the APDT and is currently working towards certification.

April's sense of humor and patience with the sometimes frustrating task of training puppies makes her invaluable to the 4Paws University team and a favorite with students.

MEGAN

Megan is a 7 year-old Bullmastiff and ambassador of 4Paws University.  Her easygoing temperament and demeanor make her the perfect nanny dog for Puppy Kindergarten class, where she helps teach rowdy puppies how to play nicely, and encourages shy puppies to interact.

Megan is a Canine Good Citizen and has participated in activities such Agility, Flyball and Canine Freestyle. She recently appeared on Good Day Sacramento to help promote Take Your Dog to Work Day.
