DESCRIPTION
This course focuses on socialization, prevention of behavior problems and age-appropriate exercises to teach puppies basic manners.
Topics covered include:
- Safe handling
- Jumping
- Mouthing
- Come
- Sit and Down
- Wait
- Polite play and calm behavior around other dogs
Once your puppy has learned basic manners, they will be ready to progress to Basic Obedience where they will continue to practice their manners and learn important new obedience skills!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION - READ BEFORE REGISTERING
The first class is a mandatory Orientation without puppies. Do not bring your puppies to the first class. Students who do not follow these instructions will not be permitted to attend the class and no refunds will be given.
Vaccination Requirements: Puppies must have received their second set of DHPP vaccinations and Bordetella two weeks prior to the second class.
*VACCINATION INFORMATION. Some veterinarians are still discouraging owners from socializing puppies before fully vaccinated in spite of sufficient research that indicates a greater risk of euthanasia for behavior problems due to lack of socialization than contracting disease.
If you are concerned about the risk of early socialization, please print provided articles and discuss with your veterinarian before registering. 4Paws does not offer exceptions to our refund policy due to conflicting information from veterinarians, so please discuss concerns with your veterinarian before registering and paying for class.
