DESCRIPTION

This 8-week training program starts with teaching you the basics of how dogs think and learn.  You will then learn how to teach your dog basic obedience skills, practicing and proofing your skills through drills and distractions of increasing difficulty using positive and proactive training methods to teach exercises including:

  • Canine Calisthenics: Sit, Down and Stand
  • Increased attention around distractions
  • Leash walking fundamentals
  • Wait
  • Recall (coming when called)
  • Leave It

Students who graduate from the Basic Obedience program are eligible to continue on to intermediate and advanced classes.

The first lesson is for humans only (no dogs please) and teaches owners how to get the most out of their training program, necessary equipment and more. Students leave with exercises that they can begin with their dogs at home before the next class.

4Paws trainers are available by phone and email throughout the program and even after you have graduated, should you experience problems outside of class.

Make Up Classes

We do not offer make-up lessons for this class. Please plan your schedule carefully before registering.

Behavior Problems/Aggression

This class is not suitable for dogs exhibiting aggressive behaviors around dogs or people. We offer private behavior consultations for dogs whose needs extend beyond simple obedience.
